Opel Flextreme: the lowdown
Vauxhall’s European sister brand Opel showed off its surprise at Frankfurt today – the new Flextreme concept car. Under that voluminous monocab body lies GM’s E-Flex plug-in hybrid system. It’s the latest trend in hybrids, allowing up to 30 miles of zero-emissions electric operation, after which the diesel engine kicks in to recharge the battery.
This is the new Mercedes-Benz S-class. It’s one of the most important new cars of 2013, and the decade: it's a complete gadget and tech fest, with everything from suspension that can 'see' the road ahead, to heated armrests, plus a four-cylinder diesel hybrid model that'll do over 64mpg and emit just 115g/km CO2. Cars will be the focus of Kia's attention in the next year as the fast-growing Korean automaker brings fresh styling and new engine technology to its lineup. The redesigned Rio subcompact that debuted at the New York auto show in April goes on sale in the fourth quarter. The Cadenza, a large upscale sedan that will be Kia's flagship, will be launched next spring.
